Kevin Clancy in Rangers return as ref set for first Ibrox role since Alfredo Morelos controversy

Kevin Clancy is set to return to Ibrox for the first time since a row over Alfredo Morelos.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard landed in the dock after suggesting a challenge that left the striker on a stretcher would've been handled differently by the official if roles were reversed.

Gerrard was eventually cleared of any wrongdoing while no further action was taken against Dundee United's Ryan Edwards.

Clancy won't be the man in the middle when Rangers take on Aberdeen on Sunday but has been installed as fourth official.

At the time, Gerrard said of the Morelos incident: "I only got a good view of it after the game. There's obviously a follow through there, I don't want to stand here and say a kid should be sent off, of course I don't.

"What would be interesting is if it was the other way around what the decision would have been."

Nick Walsh will referee the Premiership clash as the Ibrox side look to consolidate their position at the league summit.
