Kevin Clancy handed Rangers appointment for first time since Alfredo Morelos row

Kevin Clancy will return to Ibrox as an official for the first time since the row over a tackle on Alfredo Morelos.

But the whistler won't be the main man as he takes on the fourth official role for the game between Rangers and Aberdeen at Ibrox next Sunday.

Nick Walsh will take charge of the game - set to be shown live on Sky Sports.

It means Clancy might be in the firing line from Rangers boss Steven Gerrard in what is set to be an eventful clash.

Rangers were enraged the last time Clancy was at Ibrox after Morelos was stretchered off with a gash on his knee following a tackle from Ryan Edwards.

The Dundee United defender received no punishment from Clancy and it resulted in Steven Gerrard being hauled up in front of the SFA disciplinary board for his comments.

The Ibrox boss was cleared of any wrongdoing after he had suggested Morelos would have seen red for a similar challenge.

At the time, he said: "I only got a good view of it after the game. There's obviously a follow through there, I don't want to stand here and say a kid should be sent off, of course I don't.

"What would be interesting is if it was the other way around what the decision would have been."
