Kevin Can F**k Himself is the new AMC comedy seeking to kill misogynistic sitcom tropes and set to be released on Amazon Prime Video later this month.
Emmy-winner and Schitt’s Creek breakout star Annie Murphy leads the new series and follows Allison McRoberts, a passive sitcom wife who after 10 years of being trapped in an unhappy marriage finally wakes up to the injustices of her life, deciding to kill her husband Kevin and start her own life.
Eric Peterson, Mary Hollis Inboden and Alex Bonifer co-star in the upcoming series, which was created by executive producer Valerie Armstrong in response to one particular American sitcom that decided to kill off its on-screen wife in order to ‘drive forward’ the plot.

But which show inspired the murderous events of Kevin Can F**k Himself? Here’s everything you need to know.
When is the Kevin Can F**k Himself release date?

Kevin Can F**k Himself originally premiered on AMC+ in America on June 20, 2021, and was met by rave reviews from fans and critics alike.
Now, UK viewers are able to get a slice of the action, as all eight episodes of the critically acclaimed comedy series will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video from Friday, August 27.
Which American sitcom is Kevin Can F**k Himself based on?

The premise — and title — of AMC’s Kevin Can F**k Himself was born after Kevin James’ popular CBS sitcom Kevin Can Wait infamously killed off its female lead, Donna (played by Erinn Hayes) after just one season after “literally just running out of ideas” according to James.
Kevin Can F**k Himself aims to force viewers to take a closer look at the classic sitcom genre, specifically how the ‘wife’ character has been treated over the years.
Why is a sitcom wife’s only purpose to serve the male lead? What happens when she leaves the room? Why does she always have to be beautiful and smart — but of course not too smart — while her husband isn’t held to the same TV beauty standards?
This new series blends multi-camera comedy with gritty single-camera realism in such a way that makes the former seem outdated and unfunny to make viewers ask themselves: who and what have we really been laughing at all of these years?
Kevin Can F**k Himself will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video from Friday, August 27.
