Kevin Campbell agrees with Ian Wright on Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale after superb start

Aaron Ramsdale has enjoyed a fantastic start to his Arsenal career and has earned praise from Kevin Campbell and Ian Wright.

The Englishman kept another clean sheet on Saturday, as the Gunners drew 0-0 with Brighton at the Amex Stadium.

That was his third in four Premier League games for his new club, and it looks as though he has solidified his position as Arsenal’s new No.1 ahead of German goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

His performances have earned him praise from pundits and fans alike, with former Gunner Kevin Campbell the latest to recognise his talent.

Campbell told Football Insider. “At first, I didn’t pass judgement because I did not know enough about him.

“There was a pre-conceived idea that he was not good enough for Arsenal but let me tell you, that young man has impressed me as much as anyone they’ve signed.

“I think he’s been incredible. Not just his saves and his distribution but the way he commands his box.

“He is not afraid to give his defenders a rollicking. That is really important. I never saw Leno do it. You can see that he has a feeling for the football club.”

Gunners legend Ian Wright has also spoken about how Ramsdale has improved Arsenal.

Speaking in the week prior to the Gunners’ 3-1 north London derby win over Tottenham last month, Wright said on his podcast : “It’s just that what we’ve done now is silenced a few and the way we’ve silenced a few is we’ve made little changes.

“Ramsdale, his distribution is much better. [Ben] White and Gabriel [Magalhaes] are getting better."

Ramsdale has earned himself an England recall, and he’ll be hoping to finally make his full international debut against either Andorra or Hungary in the coming days.
