Kevin Bridges gifts £20,000 to Scottish children's charity in wee boy's memory

Big hearted Kevin Bridges has donated £20,000 to a kids charity - in memory of a wee boy he met at a hospice.

The Scots funnyman gave the windfall to CHAS - Children’s Hospices Across Scotland - as a tribute to Dylan who he met at Robin House near Balloch.

CHAS have now taken to social media to thank Kevin for the huge donation.

They wrote: “Kevin Bridges just donated an astounding £20,000 in memory of Dylan, who he met at Robin House. We’re speechless. Thank you so, so much Kevin.”

Before coronavirus struck, Kevin took to social media to tell his 1.3million followers he’s been “cutting aboot” his home in preparation for the charity Kiltwalk.

The Clydebank funnyman used his position as a social media influencer to spur businesses and participants to raise money for charity. CHAS offers a full family support service to babies, children and young people with lifeshortening conditions.

Robin House is billed as a ‘home from home’ for families. It has a range of facilities including a hydro pool, art room, den and large accessible garden. It also has quiet areas for reflection, bereavement support and care.

The news comes two months after a philanthropist gifted CHAS an estate overlooking Loch Lomond and a cash boost of £1million.

Millionaire Peter Armitage - a former global fund manager - and his family have given Ardoch Estate to the charity. Yorkshire businessman Peter bought the 133-acre estate when he retired and set up the Ardoch Foundation as a social enterprise, mainly to benefit children’s charities.

He decided to transfer all its assets - an 18-bedroom conference centre, event space, and cottages - to CHAS. He said: “Ardoch has a canny way of putting everything in perspective.

“It generates hope, joy, laughter and friendships.”
