Kevin Bacon To Visit Payson High School On Prom Day

Kevin Bacon

Kevin Bacon is set to make a nostalgic return to Payson High School in Utah, the iconic filming location of the beloved movie Footloose. The announcement was made during a broadcast to students at the gym, where Bacon expressed his admiration for the efforts of the students in organizing the #BaconToPayson campaign. The actor commended the students for their dedication to recreating scenes from the film and for their involvement in charitable initiatives through SixDegrees.org.

Bacon's visit to Payson High holds special significance as it coincides with the 40th anniversary of Footloose and marks the final year of the school before its relocation. While Bacon won't be attending the prom, he will be present on prom day to support a fundraising event for SixDegrees.org, the foundation he established in 2007 to promote community empowerment.

Footloose, released in 1984 and directed by Herbert Ross, tells the story of Ren McCormack, played by Bacon, a rebellious teen challenging a small town's ban on dancing and rock music. The film's enduring popularity led to a 2011 remake and continues to resonate with audiences today.

Despite the absence of official plans for a sequel, discussions about a potential follow-up have surfaced, with actress Lori Singer sharing her concept for a storyline involving the characters of Ren and Ariel. Singer's idea imagines a reunion between the characters in New York, where Ren has become a prominent figure in their hometown.

Bacon, known for his recent roles in The Toxic Avenger and Leave the World Behind, is set to appear in upcoming projects such as Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. and MaXXXine. Fans of Footloose can relive the magic of the film by streaming it on Paramount+.
