Kerryon Johnson tabbed as RB who will explode into stardom by Bleacher Report

Kerryon Johnson, breakout star. Yeah, that sounds pretty good for Lions fans.

Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon believes it will happen in 2019 for the second-year running back. Johnson got the nod as the RB in Gagnon’s projection for breakout stars at every position.

It’s a savvy choice. Johnson averaged 5.4 yards per attempt and caught 32 passes in 10 games as a rookie before a knee injury ended his run.

Johnson looked special before he suffered a season-ending knee injury in November. He says he’s fully recovered from that knee injury and he should be in for a tremendous age-22 season.

Johnson edged out another 2018 second-round pick, Cleveland’s Nick Chubb. The relative lack of depth in the Detroit backfield, as well as his exceptional receiving skills, gives Johnson more of an opportunity to rack up the big numbers needed to “explode into stardom”.
