Kerry punter looking forward to years to come after collecting €500,000 EuroMillion prize

A punter in Kerry has opened up after winning a "life-changing" €500,000 in the Lotto.

The lucky player hit the jackpot in the EuroMillions Plus draw on Friday, July 5.

He collected his monster cheque at the National Lottery HQ in Dublin on Wednesday - the 15th player to win the prize this year.

He said: "To be honest, there’s still a lot of disbelief that I’ve actually won a half million euro – it really is life changing for me.

"When you buy a ticket in the shop, you always hope it’s going to be your lucky day but you’re never really prepared for that moment when you are told that you’ve won a huge lump of money like this.

"Taking some time out was very important to get my head around it so I’m going to be sensible and make a proper plan to ensure that I enjoy it for many years to come."

Friday's jackpot is heading towards €110million, which, if won, will be the 15th biggest lottery jackpot scooped in Ireland.
