Kerry native comes up with genius way to remind people what nightclubs are like

While the prospect seems a bit far away at the moment, we long for the days of Coppers or a similar nightclub on a Saturday evening.

You've had a couple of pints in your local and got dressed in your fancy shoes - with a good dollop of Lynx Africa spray.

And then you make the decision to finish up in the bar and head to the club to go for a bit of a bop.

Suddenly it's 3am, the smell of stale beer and farts is horrific, but you spot someone who you might want to spend the night with after everything shuts.

But you haven't quite got enough courage to go and ask them yourself.

Enter the best mate.

Do you remember this feeling?

If you don't then a Kerry native has come up with a genius solution.

Ian (@killarneyman) has created willyoushiftmyfriend.com

It reads:

"I miss nightclubs.

"Lockdowns are taxing on the soul. I think what I miss most is being rejected in nightclubs. Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, we can make it less lonely."

All you have to do is push the button to find out how and it is just superb.

Though nightclubs and bars are a bit away, the Government is planning for more outdoor activities, a phased reopening of retail and the return of personal services such as hairdressers on a staggered basis next month.

Leo Varadkar told RTE's Morning Ireland: "For the first time this year, the number of people in hospitals is below 200 and the number in ICU below 50.

"Cases are stable or falling, the R number is below one. Kids are back to school, the five kilometre rule is gone, we're building houses again.

"We are on track, we're on track both to ease restrictions as planned from May 4, and to have over 80% of people receiving their first vaccine by the end of June."
