Kerry Katona reveals she spent months walking around with broken foot before health diagnosis as she's told to 'keep going'

Kerry Katona has revealed how she has spent months walking around with a broken foot after a fall last year. The former Atomic Kitten star has told how she suffered a fall while filming a TV show last year but despite being in pain, didn't get her foot checked out.

And it wasn't until she decided to go and get some physio as she embarks on a new fitness journey that the mum-of-five discovered she had broken her foot.

"I’m on a mission to lose some weight," Kerry wrote in her latest OK! Magazine column. "As I write this, I’ve just finished a workout on the treadmill. I’m done with feeling crap about myself – it’s about time I did something about it.

"I’ve been recovering from the corrective surgery I had in January, but I feel ready to get back to exercise now and my goal is to lose 3st. I’m still slightly swollen and I’m not ready to show off my stomach just yet, but I’m feeling positive. Surgery isn’t just a quick fix – I need to put in the work, too."

The 42-year-old added: "But I do need to take it steady, as I’ve found out I have a broken foot! I fell over while filming a TV show last year and never got it checked out. I’ve been in agony ever since, but just got on with it. I recently went for some physio and was told it’s broken, so I’ve been walking around with a broken."

It comes after she revealed she is having an overhaul after being diagnosed with Lipoedema, an abnormal build-up of fat in the legs and sometimes arms. The condition, which is more common in women, can be painful and affect daily life according to the NHS.

"Today is the first day of the rest of your life people," she positively wrote alongside a video of her working out on Instagram. "I absolutely love Monday mornings! New day, new week, clean slate, fresh beginning!"

She explained: "I was diagnosed lipidaemia last week which means swelling of the body and random fatty lumps. But f*** that s***!!!" and she added in her upbeat and inspiring message: "Gonna train the s*** out of my body!"

Kerry continued about her health: "If you look at the video you can see the swelling at the top of my stomach, cross my ribs, and also my shins and knees… their that big they’ve got their own bleeding personalities!!" She then added: "Oh also got a broken foot!! is that gonna stop me?????? Hell no!! I start @francisdiet today with the help of @carlafishwick who’s been a huge inspiration to me!!!!"

The reality star has since returned to Instagram on Tuesday morning (March 21) to share her second workout of the week. "Morning workout done!!! @francisdiet @carlafishwick need as much support from you guys as pos!!!!" she said.

But fans were quick to show their support and encourage her to 'keep going'. TV presenter and theatre star Denise Van Outen said: "Smashing it." @manifesting_a_better_world commented: "Keep going !! I need inspiration to exercise myself."
