Kerry Katona flees Gwrych Castle in terror after ghost tells her to 'get out'

Spirits shouting "get out", creeping shadows in a freezing cold room and a heavy glass table being mysteriously dragged to block an entrance, this is everything that happened during a night of ghost hunting in Gwrych Castle which experts described as one of the most eventful of their 20 year career.

The action was too much for some, with celebrity Kerry Katona who was part of the ghost hunting investigations freaking out and fleeing the castle in the middle of the night.

Ghost hunters Lee and Linzi Steer from Ghost's of Britain, the world's largest paranormal investigation live streamers with over 1.8 million followers were joined by the former I'm a Celeb winner and Queen of the Jungle Kerry Katona at Gwrych Castle in Abergele on Wednesday night.

The castle became famous across the UK last year when it hosted the first series of I'm A Celeb outside of Australia. It is not known if the show will return to the castle again this year or whether celebs will be flown out to Australia instead, but the castle has been provisionally booked for a second series in Wales.

They took Kerry on a ghost hunt, but things got a little too much for the celebrity and she fled the castle and was left driving around in her car when she waited for her daughter and the rest of the team who were on the ghost hunt.

Describing what happened, ghost hunter Linzi said the evening started off quiet, but when Kerry showed a bit of fear and the sky got darker, things started to kick off.

She said: "They say you should not show spirits any fear as they feed off that energy, and when Kerry showed her fear, it all started."

With the use of equipment that only works when the satellite is touched, the group were able to communicate with a spirit in the castle.

Describing the incident that spooked Kerry, Linzi said: "We had a break but myself and another person we work with went down into this room which is known as a devils room. There are like pentagrams on the wall and upside down crosses and stuff in there."

They took a small toy bear into the room, which lights up when it is touched, Linzi said it only reacts to hard physical touch, and stuff like wind wouldn't impact it.

"We put the bear down and it started flashing straight away. We did an EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) and a voice, clear as day said 'Get back to the house'"

"We have never had an EVP response like that, usually it is just one or two word replies, never a full sentence."

When the rest of the visitors came back from having a break, Linzi took them down into the room, and played back the recording on the EVP.

At this point, Kerry Katona gets scared. In a live stream video shared by the ghost hunters, Kerry can be heard saying: "I have to get out now", and her daughter adds: "Everyone is saying that the spirits want to talk to me."

Kerry replied: "Right, well you have a nice time."

Another piece of equipment is turned on, and a voice can be heard saying "go away". This sparks worry in the celebrity, and she says: "Yes please, right I really want to go now, can you take me out now please."

A voice can be heard saying "to follow her", and others in the video ask: "To follow who? To follow Kerry?"

Kerry added: "Yes, get out now."

The others in the video continue to talk to the "spirit" after Kerry left. A few minutes later someone returns and said that Kerry has left and is driving around in circles outside the castle.

For the rest of them, this didn't end their ghost hunting experience, and they continued to see activity throughout the night.

They saw balls of light and shadows moving around them, and managed to get a name from one spirit as "Randy".

At one point, Linzi described how they were all in one room together, with no one else in the castle and could hear a dragging sound.

"We didn't think anything of it at first," said Linzi. "We were in this cellar type room and when we went back up to get our equipment from another room, a large glass top table had been moved to block the entrance."

Linzi's husband Lee, who has been ghost hunting for 20 years, said he has only ever seen a physical object move like this around two or three times. There was no one else with them on the castle grounds apart from security guards, who they asked if they had been into the castle at all but they said they had not moved from the entrance.

"We have been to so many haunted places in the UK but that place was different. We did not expect to get the evidence we actually did. The activity was on another level."

The ghost hunting team are returning to Wales at the end of June to spend a night in Skirrid Inn in Monmoutshire and have extended an invite to anyone in Wales who would want to go along with them for the night to get in touch with their Facebook page, Ghosts of Britain.
