Kerry Katona is reportedly fearing for her future after being diagnosed with arthritis following years of severe pain.
The mum-of-five had been complaining of chronic pain since the birth of her son Max 13 years ago,.
After visiting a doctor last month, she was given a full medical evaluation and was told she was not only suffering from arthritis in her shoulders, but several other health issues.
Kerry told her followers in an emotional video on Instagram she was also told she had a protruding disc in her back, as well as cysts on her liver and ovaries, and will need surgery and medication to correct the health issues.
Despite saying she was “over the moon” at her diagnosis following years of pain, Kerry is now fearful for her future as she worries her years of partying and boozing are catching up with her.
According to Closer magazine, the former Atomic Kitten singer was “terrified” to go for the medical evaluation as she was scared doctors would “find something awful”.
She was relieved when she was told her constant pain and health woes were due to arthritis and back pain, but Kerry is concerned the drugs and alcohol she’s taken in the past, as well as smoking, “has done lasting damage” to her body.
Kerry is now “terrified” her old party lifestyle will “ruin” her future, especially now she’s found her soulmate, fiancé Ryan Mahoney.
“She wants to spend the rest of her life with him watching her kids grow - she is terrified that is going to be cruelly snatched away from her because of her past lifestyle,” the source added.
The couple got engaged in August last year after two years of dating, and they’re reportedly planning on eloping to Las Vegas with her kids - Molly, 20, Lilly-Sue, 18, Heidi, 14, Max, 13, and Dylan-Jorge, seven - once the Covid-19 travel restrictions are eased.
Kerry has previously shared her battle with drugs and booze, candidly confessing she’s overdosed twice, but after splitting from her ex-husband George Kay, who sadly died in 2019 after an overdose, the former I’m A Celebrity winner has overhauled her lifestyle.
Slimming down to a size 10, the reality star has also quit the booze, and she’s now trying to focus on the future, rather than the “what-ifs”, following her diagnosis.
“Luckily Ryan and her kids know her fears and have been incredibly reassuring,” the source close to Kerry told Closer.
During her Instagram video last month, Kerry said the pain started 13 years ago following the birth of her son Max, and she’d been taking the “strongest painkillers” for the past eight years.
