Kerry Katona fans do a double take as she's mistaken for ITV Emmerdale star after showing off completely different look

Kerry Katona has found herself being mistaken for an Emmerdale star after she showed off a completely different look. The former pop star, who shot to fame as part of Atomic Kitten, swapped her trademark blonde hair for a darker do.

But it was only a temporary change as the pouting selfies as Kerry was dressed up for panto. The 42-year-old is reprising her role as Rapunzel’s wicked Mother Gothel in Anton Benson Productions' spring pantomime which takes to the stage next month with Strictly Joanne Clifton and former EastEnders star Dean Gaffney also having roles.

"Now I look more like Mother Gothel @abpltd," Kerry captioned the series of images as she donned a curly brunette wig and bedazzled headdress. But the images left some of her followers doing a double take and they flocked to the comments section to reveal why.

Others, however, thought she should make a permanent move and ditch the blonde completely. @jofitz44 said: "Oh my god love you this colour looks wicked you should go this colour suits your face and eyes." @christine.nye.140 replied: "Love this colour kerry." @natty030573 added: "Dark hair looks good on you."

Kerry's latest role comes after she shared a recent health diagnosis with fans. She also revealed how she has spent months walking around with a broken foot after a fall last year. The former Atomic Kitten star has told how she suffered a fall while filming a TV show last year but despite being in pain, didn't get her foot checked out.

And it wasn't until she decided to go and get some physio as she embarks on a new fitness journey that the mum-of-five discovered she had broken her foot. "I’m on a mission to lose some weight," Kerry wrote in her latest OK! Magazine column. "As I write this, I’ve just finished a workout on the treadmill. I’m done with feeling crap about myself – it’s about time I did something about it.

"I’ve been recovering from the corrective surgery I had in January, but I feel ready to get back to exercise now and my goal is to lose 3st. I’m still slightly swollen and I’m not ready to show off my stomach just yet, but I’m feeling positive. Surgery isn’t just a quick fix – I need to put in the work, too."

Kerry added: "But I do need to take it steady, as I’ve found out I have a broken foot! I fell over while filming a TV show last year and never got it checked out. I’ve been in agony ever since, but just got on with it. I recently went for some physio and was told it’s broken, so I’ve been walking around with a broken."

It comes after she revealed she is having an overhaul after being diagnosed with Lipoedema, an abnormal build-up of fat in the legs and sometimes arms. The condition, which is more common in women, can be painful and affect daily life according to the NHS. "I was diagnosed lipidaemia last week which means swelling of the body and random fatty lumps. But f*** that s***!!!" se said in her first fitness post. And she added in her upbeat and inspiring message: "Gonna train the s*** out of my body!"
