Kerry Katona apologises to Charlotte Crosby for calling her a 'cross-eyed fish' after fan backlash

Kerry Katona has apologised to Charlotte Crosby after facing a huge backlash for insulting her looks.

The former Atomic Kitten singer, 39, said Charlotte looked like a "cross-eyed fish"  after getting a lot of cosmetic surgery done.

But writing in her column for new! magazine this week, Kerry said her comments were meant to be "tongue-in-cheek" and she had never meant to be "malicious or cruel".

Kerry explained: "I feel I need to apologise to Charlotte Crosby after my comments in this column last week. I said she looked like a cross-eyed fish, but it was all meant to be very tongue-in-cheek."

But Kerry said she does still stand by voicing her belief that Charlotte, 29, has had too much work done.

She continued: "My intention was never to be malicious or cruel – I was simply trying to point out that she should stop messing with her face. She's said herself that she's gone too far.

"I still stand by what I said in that I really do think she was much more beautiful before all the procedures, but the main thing is that she's happy with herself now."

In last week's column Kerry called out the reality star's looks and advised her to stop changing her appearance.

She said: "Charlotte's great entertainment but I wish she'd stop messing with her face as it looks fragile.

"Her face looks like it's got stuck between two lift doors - she looks a bit like a cross-eyed fish."

Mum-of-five Kerry even suggested Charlotte turn to therapy instead of having another cosmetic procedure in future.

Charlotte's former Geordie Shore co-star Holly Hagan called out Kerry on Twitter, saying: "You are a mother to daughters!!! How would you feel if someone said this about your girls?"

"I think you need to apologise."
