Kerry fans were left scratching heads after a series of missed goal opportunities saw them trailing Tyrone at half-time of the All-Ireland football semi-final at Croke Park.
Billed as the big favourites before the throw-in, it started off as per the script when David Clifford got the Kingdom's first point within twenty seconds.
But Sean O'Shea spurned a good goal chance for Kerry and Tyrone's confidence grew as the game went on.
The most important passage of play started in the 20th minute Paul Geaney and Dara Moynihan combined to split open the Tyrone defence.
But Geaney decided to hand pass it to Stephen O'Brien who found the open net but he was clearly inside the square and it was ruled out.
It was a real wasted opportunity for Kerry that was immediately punished when Tyrone went up the other end and Peter Harte and Niall Sludden combined to create a goal chance for Conor McKenna - and the former AFL player didn't make a mistake.
Tyrone took a one-point lead at the break with the score 1-07 to 0-09 in their favour.
