Kerry Express plans to create 3,000 new jobs in Thai provinces as the country's leading parcel delivery company seeks to expand its "nationwide next-day delivery" by opening 2,300 new service points and 300 new distribution centres in 2018.
The campaign is expected to bring the company's next-day delivery services closer to households and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country. Service points will be placed in self-operated locations and big national retailers.
"We are investing billions of baht to make sure our delivery service is extensive enough to serve the country. Kerry Express is a household name thanks to our fast deliveries and great customer experience," said Alex Ng, executive director of Kerry Express.
"Our electronic and social commerce will continue to grow extremely fast in 2018."
Kerry Express, a subsidiary of Hong Kong-listed Kerry Logistics Network, is headquartered in Thailand and uses its Bangkok office to manage its network in Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.
The company focuses on small parcel deliveries.
"In Thailand, we are recruiting over 100 programmers and system analysts. Many modules of our operating systems, mobile apps and software being used in overseas markets were designed, developed and deployed by our Thailand office," said Warawut Natpradith, deputy general manager of Kerry Express.
The company is the market leader in parcel deliveries for Thailand. Its extensive delivery network includes 1,500 service points and 600 distribution centres in all provinces.
Kerry Express claims its next-day delivery service covers 99.99% of the Thai population, and unsuccessful deliveries account for less than 1% of all shipments. It also offers same-day deliveries in Bangkok.
The company operates three sorting facilities in Bangkok, including a self-built plant -- Kerry Bangna Logistics Centre (KBLC) -- located on KM19 of Bang Na-Trat Road.
The second phase of KBLC is slated to open in March 2018, increasing the facility's usable gross floor area to more than 36,000 square metres.
The company also owns 40,000 sq m of land adjacent to the facility.
