Kerry community devastated after death of Ryan Nagle, 13, in quad bike accident

A community in Kerry are in shock following the tragic death of a teenage boy.

Ryan Nagle, from Castlemaine, died on Monday evening a week after a quad bike accident.

The 13-year old was described as a popular young man who attended Killorglin Community College.

Principal of the school, Donal O’Reilly, led tributes to the youngster.

He said: “This is a terrible tragedy for his family, our school and our community. 

“We are deeply saddened at these events, and our thoughts and sympathies are with the Nagle family and friends at this time.”

Teenage boy in critical condition and three others injured after crash in Cork  

A Garda statement said: “Gardaí in Killarney are investigating the sudden death of a 13-year old boy who died on Tuesday at Temple St Children’s University Hospital having been airlifted there from University Hospital, Tralee as a result of a quad bike accident at Ballygamboon, Castlemaine, Co Kerry on Tuesday April 16. 

“The purpose of An Garda Síochána’s investigation is to submit a report to the Coroner’s Office.”

“The HSA have been informed.”

A death notice on RIP.ie reads: "Sadly missed by his loving parents Irene and Brian, brothers Jack and Gearóid, sister Chloe, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbours and many friends."

Ryan's wake will take on Thursday evening (April 25th) at Flynn's Funeral Home, Castlemaine from 5pm to 8pm.

Removal will take place on Friday morning (April 26th) to Kiltallagh Church for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Family flowers only please, donations, if desired, to The I.C.U. in Temple Street Hospital, Dublin.
