Warriors head coach Steve Kerr expressed his disappointment in the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James missing the postseason prior to their final regular season matchup on Thursday night.
And while most of the media seems to agree on reasons for their failures: the failed Anthony Davis trade saga, their terrible start, injuries, Steve Kerr is still stuck on the team that ran his Warriors off the court on Christmas Day. That game was also the day that changed the Lakers season when LeBron James suffered the worst injury of his career.
From Kyle Goon of the Southern California News Group
“Oh for sure,” Kerr said Thursday morning at Staples Center. “When they beat us on Christmas, to me, they looked like one of the best teams in the West. They were playing like it. I don’t know where they were in the standings, but you could feel how good they were (and) the fact that they were coming together.”
While several pin the start of the Lakers locker room uneasiness at LeBron’s public comments about playing with Anthony Davis, there’s no question that the injury to James had the greatest tangible impact of all.
