TORONTO _ The Warriors have not decided whether Kevin Durant will play against the Toronto Raptors in Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday.
Although the Warriors have yet to clear Durant for a full practice since injuring his right calf about three weeks ago, coach Steve Kerr said "it's feasible" Durant could return should he practice on Tuesday.
"It's really a day-to-day thing," Kerr said following shootaround on Sunday. "If we had a crystal ball, we would've known for a long time. But it's an injury that has a lot of gray area. But it's literally day-to-day with how the progress is coming. At this point, he's still not ready."
Durant will not play in Game 2 on Sunday, marking the seventh consecutive playoff game he will miss since injuring his right calf against Houston in Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals on May 8. Durant received treatment during the team's morning shootaround on Sunday. Although Kerr called Durant "fine," the Warriors did not receive enough clarity on when they will clear him for any contact drills.
The Warriors do not plan to have a formal practice on Monday, leaving Durant's availability for Tuesday's practice as a prerequisite for a Game 3 return. If Durant is not available by then, he would have to practice on Thursday to be available for Game 4 on Friday.
The Warriors cleared Durant this past week for light shooting drills. He still traveled with Toronto both to resume his rehab and be around the team during film sessions, team meetings and at the hotel.
"Another day and another step forward in his rehab process," Kerr said.
Not enough, though, for the Warriors to have a firm date for when Durant could practice and play.
