Kerala: Villagers live in fear in Palakkad as leopard attacks pregnant goat

PALAKKAD: The people of Akathethara grama panchayat are living in fear due to the presence of a leopard which attacked a pregnant goat that was let loose for gracing along with three other goats on Sunday evening.

The leopard attacked the goat of Devadas of Azhakampara, Cheekkuzhi. Hearing the cries of the goats, Devadas's wife rushed to them and found that the pregnant goat was missing.

After a search, the injured goat was found bleeding. The forest department officials confirmed that the goat was attacked by the leopard. Last week, their pet dog was also attacked by the animal. The forest department had installed two cages to trap the leopard and camera traps were also set up to track the animal.

People of Mele Dhoni, Ayyappan Challa waterfall, Akathethara and Ummini in Olavakkode are also living in fear due to the presence of leopard in these areas.tnn
