THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Cleaning and sanitation work of school premises would be organised from Oct 20 to 30 with the public participation, said general education minister V Sivankutty on Thursday.
The decision was taken at the minister’s meeting with representatives from teachers’ organizations and youth organizations. And 38 teachers’ organizations and 19 youth organizations participated in the meeting that discussed preparations that need to be in place for school reopening on Nov 1.
The cleaning works at each school would be led by people’s collectives being set up at respective schools. The meeting also decided to ensure that all teachers, parents and school employees have taken two doses of Covid vaccine before school reopening.
The people’s collectives, as per the decision taken at the meeting, would take the responsibility to ensure that there are enough masks, sanitizers and pulse oximeters at every school.
The minister will hold a meeting with the representatives of students’ unions, labour unions, mayors and district panchayat presidents at different time slots on Oct 2.
A meeting of DEOs and AEOs would be held on Oct 3 and a meeting of district collectors, in connection with school reopening, is planned on Oct 5. All meetings would be held online.
