KOCHI: The new and active Covid cases are reducing fast in the state. On Saturday, the state reported 6,757 new cases of Covid-19 and 17,086 recoveries from the infection.
The number of active cases dropped to 75,017, and the test positivity rate (TPR) is now 10.84% after 62,301 samples were tested.
Maximum number of cases continue to be reported from Ernakulam — 1,462, followed by Thiruvananthapuram (750), Kozhikode (653), Kottayam (542), Thrissur (542), Kollam (501), Alappuzha (363), Malappuram (339), Palakkad (316), Pathanamthitta (311), Idukki (298), Wayanad (285), Kannur (270) and Kasaragod (125).
At present, there are 1,80,392 persons under observation in the state, of whom 1,76,266 are in home/institutional quarantine and 4,126 in hospitals.
In the last 24 hours, 16 new deaths were confirmed due to Covid-19. In addition, 96 deaths were reported in the previous days due to late receipt of documents and 412 deaths from appeals under the Supreme Court guidelines. This brings the total death toll in the state to 64,053.
Almost 76% of children between 15 to 17 years have been given the first dose, and 22% were given the second dose.
