THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state on Thursday recorded 3,404 new Covid-19 cases when 56,580 samples were tested. Among the new cases, 904 people have not been vaccinated. However, 1,776 people who tested positive on the day were double vaccinated.
Total active cases across the state is 34,171 and only 8% of them are admitted to hospitals for medical care. Among the positive cases reported on Thursday, eight people have come from outside the state. An official statement said 97% of people in the vaccinable age have been administered at least one dose of vaccine and 72.6% of the population in the vaccinable age have received both doses of vaccine.
T’puram (633), Kozhikode (523) and Ernakulam (501) witnessed the highest number of Covid-19 cases on the day. Regarding the death rate, the official record confirmed 36 deaths on the day. However, 284 deaths have also been included in the Covid death statistics on Thursday, taking the total toll to 43,946.
