Kerala records 9,735 new Covid cases & 151 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state recorded 9,735 fresh positive cases as 93,202 samples were tested in the past 24 hours. Among the new cases, 8,334 people were eligible for vaccination. While 2,770 people have taken a single dose, 2867 had received both the shots.

As many as 151 recent deaths were confirmed as caused by Covid-19 taking the related death toll in the state to 25,678. At the same time, 13,878 patients have recovered from the disease.

Among the new cases, 9,101 people were infected through local spread. The contact source of infection was not traceable for 529 people. There are 69 health care professionals among those infected while 36 people have arrived from outside the state.

Thrissur reported the highest number of cases (1,367) followed by Thiruvananthapuram (1156), Ernakulam (1099), Kottayam (806), Palakkad (768), Kollam (755), Kozhikode (688), Malappuram (686), Kannur (563), Alappuzha (519), Pathanamthitta (514), Idukki (374), Wayanad (290) and Kasaragod (150).

There are 1,24,441 active cases at present of which 11.1% people are admitted either in the hospitals or in the other treatment centres.
