T'PURAM: Education minister V Sivankutty on Saturday said that there could be no change in the SSLC, higher secondary examination schedule. Classes for junior students in schools have been suspended as a precautionary measure. There was no significant surge in Covid cases among children, he said.
Government has suspended offline classes for students in Classes I to IX. Sivankutty said the restrictions are applicable to all educational institutions, including private schools.
He said the timing of digital-online classes will be rearranged. Online classes would be scheduled in such a way that the SSLC syllabus would be covered by February first week and that of higher secondary by the last week of the month. Focus areas have already been fixed. Around 35 lakh students will be attending online-digital classes from home for the next 15 days.
A high-level meeting of the general education department is scheduled for Monday. New guidelines will be announced after that meeting. Special health safety measures will be put in place in schools for senior students who attend offline classes, Sivakutty said.
He said the department would ensure that vaccine is administered at the earliest to students, in vaccinable age, at their schools. Vaccination details of students will be updated online at the school level, he added. TNN
