Kerala logs 4,064 Covid cases, lowest since January 4

KOCHI: The state on Thursday reported the lowest number of Covid cases since January 4. There are 4,064 new Covid-19 cases, even as the TPR dropped to 7.81%, with 51,974 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

However, there is no relief from Covid deaths. Along with 52 new Covid deaths, the health department also reported 173 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. With this, the death toll climbed to 64,803 in the state.

Meanwhile, 9,531 people who were diagnosed and treated have recovered.

Ernakulam continues to report maximum cases — 553, followed by Thiruvananthapuram (543), Kozhikode (425), Kottayam (399), Kollam (348), Thrissur (315), Malappuram (270), Alappuzha (229), Idukki (220), Palakkad (198), Pathanamthitta (195), Kannur (174), Wayanad (135) and Kasaragod (60).

There are currently 1,27,341 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 1,24,493 are under home/institutional quarantine, and 2,848 are under hospital surveillance. A total of 391 people were newly admitted to the hospital.
