Kerala high court to get four new judges on Wednesday

KOCHI: Four new judges appointed to the Kerala high court will be sworn in on Wednesday.

Chief justice S Manikumar will administer the oaths to the new high court judges at a function to be held at the high court at 10.15am on Wednesday.

Those being sworn in as judges include Sophy Thomas, who was the registrar general of the high court; PG Ajith Kumar, who was the registrar of subordinate judiciary at the high court; CS Sudha, who was principal sessions judge in Ernakulam; and C Jayachandran, who was the principal district judge in Kottayam.

With the new judges being sworn in, the number of judges at the high court will increase to 41, with six of them being women.

Sophy Thomas, who was the first woman registrar general of the high court, is from Vazhakulam in Muvattupuzha. Having enrolled as an advocate in 1987, she entered judicial service as a magistrate in 1991.

Ajith Kumar began his judicial career in 1991 as a magistrate and had served as the additional director of Kerala Judicial Academy. He is from Vayala near Anchal in Kollam district.

Sudha joined judicial service in 1995 and became a district judge in 2012. She is from Ambalamukku in Thiruvananthapuram.

Jayachandran is a native of Aluva and had enrolled as an advocate in 1997. He entered judicial service in 2011 as a district and sessions judge.
