The Kerala High Court on Thursday stayed all further proceedings in a criminal case registered against actor Unni Mukundan for outraging the modesty of a woman script writer. Justice K. Babu passed the stay order on a petition filed by the actor seeking to quash the case. When the petition was taken up for hearing, the counsel for the actor submitted that the case had been settled. The allegation by the woman was that the actor had tried to molest her when she went to the actor’s residence at Edappally, Kochi, to discuss a screenplay. The actor submitted that he had not committed any act as alleged in the FIR. Besides, the disputes between the petitioner and the woman had been settled and she no longer had any complaint against him, the actor said referring to the affidavit submitted by the woman. In her affidavit, she said that the case had arisen from personal disputes and during the ongoing proceedings before the court, they had resolved the dispute amicably. Therefore, the continuance of the proceedings in the case would be unproductive and unnecessary and the case could be quashed.
