Kerala: Girl who died of fever in Kasaragod tests negative for Nipah

KOZHIKODE: The five-year-old girl from Chengala panchayat in Kasaragod, who had died of fever on Wednesday evening, has tested negative for Nipah in the preliminary TrueNAT test conducted at the Kozhikode medical college hospital laboratory on Thursday.

District health authorities said on Thursday night that they were waiting for the RTPCR test result and added that currently, there is no need for concern. Health authorities had sent the girl's samples for Nipah testing as she had encephalitis like symptoms. She had developed fever two days back and died at a private hospital in Kannur on Wednesday evening. The child’s Covid test result was also negative.
