Death threat to former Kerala minister MK Muneer for criticising Taliban in Facebook post

KOZHIKODE: Senior IUML leader and former minister Dr M K Muneer has received a death threat over his Facebook post against the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan. Muneer received the anonymous threat letter on Wednesday morning which said that he will meet the fate of Prof. T J Joseph in Thodupuzha, whose hand was chopped off in 2010 for alleged blasphemy.

The printed letter which had the name ‘Taliban Oru Vismayam’ (Taliban is an amazement) said that Muneer's post is not against Taliban but against the Muslim community. TNN

Won’t withdraw FB post, says Dr MK Muneer

We will decide how our women should live. Keep your decisions within your house,” the letter said.

It asks the Koduvally MLA to withdraw the post against Taliban within 24 hours or else a ‘final decision’ about him and his family will be taken.

The letter was posted from near Kozhikode medical college.

Muneer said that he will not withdraw the Facebook post and will not make any compromise on his stand against terrorism and extremism.

He said that he has submitted complaint to the chief minister and the state police chief in this regard.
