Kerala: College student stabbed, two arrested

THRISSUR: A college student was stabbed by two youngsters in Irinjalakuda town on Wednesday when he question them as they harassed a girl student of his college.

The victim Telson, 19, son of Cheloor Konengadan Veettil Thomas, is a second-year degree student at Jyothis College. The assailants were identified as Neduamangad Veettil Shafir (21) of Karalam and Nedumali Veettil Rahul (23) of Alangad near Aluva. The duo tried to escape on their motorcycle but collided with another bike and fell down. Onlookers nabbed them and handed them over to the police.

Shafir had been harassing a girl studying in Jyothis College with love appeals for some time but she ignored his overtures, police said. On Wednesday, the assailants allegedly blocked the girl and tried to assault her. When Telson tried to question them, Shafir stabbed him. The college staff and passers-by rushed Telson to hospital and his condition is improving, said police.
