T'PURAM: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will leave for the United States on Sunday morning for medical check-up and follow up treatment at Mayo Clinic.
Vijayan is learnt to be away from the state for 18 days. He is expected to be back on May 10 or 11. Like last time, Vijayan has not handed over his charges to any of his cabinet colleagues.
Vijayan on Friday informed the CPM secretariat about his travel and shared the same with his cabinet colleagues in the last cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
CM would chair the next cabinet meeting from the US on April 27. He had visited the US in January for treatment.
Meanwhile, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan is also planning to go to the US for follow-up treatment for pancreatic cancer. He had undergone treatment at a hospital in Houston early last year. Details of Kodiyeri's trip are not yet available.
