THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Byelection in 20 local body wards would be held on July 21. The state election commission would issue the election notification on Saturday.
The last date for candidates to submit their nomination would be July 2. Scrutiny of nominations would be on July 4, and the last date for withdrawal of nominations would be July 6, informed state election commissioner A Shajahan here on Thursday. The counting of votes would start at 10am on July 22.
The byelections would be held in one district panchayat, two-block panchayats, four municipalities, and 13 grama panchayat wards. The final voters list in connection with the election has been published. “Model code of conduct has come into force. While it would be in force in the ward concerned only in municipality areas, the model code of conduct is applicable to the entire district and block panchayats where wards under it go for polls,” the election commisioner said.
