Kerala: 3-day CPM Idukki district meet to begin at Kumily today

IDUKKI: The three-day CPM Idukki district meeting will begin at Kumily on Monday.

The meeting is likely to discuss the alleged lapses on the part of former Devikulam MLA S Rajendran on the election campaign works at Devikulam. The party commission has already recommended action against Rajendran.

In the last assembly elections, LDF had won four out of the five seats in the district. Also, the party got an upper hand in the local body elections held in the district.

Mullaperiyar and land issues are the other major issues likely to be discussed in the conference. Chances are high for the present district secretary K K Jayachandran to get another term.

Meanwhile, Rajendran said that he was planning to attend the conference as he wanted to meet senior party leaders there. But the final decision would be taken only on Sunday night, he added.

The CPM Idukki district committee had recommended action against Rajendran, including one-year suspension from the party. The two-member CPM probe panel had found serious lapses on the part of Rajendran over the poll campaign work in Devikulam constituency.

CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan will inaugurate the party representative meeting at Kumily holiday home at 9am on Monday.
