KOCHI: Ernakulam on Sunday reported 1,101 cases. Test positivity rate touched 12.44% on Sunday. The highest cases of the day have been reported from Thrikkakara with 55, followed by Nayarambalam 39 and Elamkunnapuzha 31.
Less than five cases have been reported from 41 places in the district. As many as 7,420 recovered on Sunday when 176 were discharged. The number of patients undergoing treatment at hospitals and houses touched 19,470 on Sunday. Of the total, 90 are in Kalamassery medical college, 1,089 in private hospitals and the rest in first and second-line treatment centres, houses and other government hospitals.
As many as 38,254 people are under home quarantine. A total of 8,851 samples have been tested on Sunday, and 279 Covid patients are currently under ICU treatment. One patient suffering from Mucormycosis is under treatment in the hospital.
Meanwhile, sectoral magistrates took action against 178 people on Sunday for violating Covid protocols.
As many as 155 people have been fined for not wearing masks and five for not maintaining social distance at public places.
