Kepa benched for Chelsea's Champions League decider vs Wolves

Kepa Arrizabalaga’s future at Chelsea is increasingly uncertain after he was dropped by Frank Lampard for their crucial final game of the season against Wolves.

The world’s most expensive goalkeeper was named on the bench and Willy Caballero was preferred on a day when Chelsea need a win to guarantee Champions League qualification.

Kepa has been under pressure after some poor displays and his omission at Stamford Bridge will only raise further questions about future at Stamford Bridge.

The Spaniard, who Chelsea paid £71.6million for in 2018, conceded five goals at Liverpool in the week and Lampard has offer him no guarantees over his long-term future at Chelsea.

Lampard is considering signing a new goalkeeper this summer and his decision to drop Kepa for a game of such big magnitude shows his lack of faith in him.

Asked about his decision to drop Kepa, Lampard told Sky Sports before the Wolves game: “It is just a choice. Kepa has had some difficult times.”
