Kepa Arrizabalaga has been snubbed by Spain ahead of this month's international break having struggled to win back the number one shirt at Stamford Bridge.
Spain have two World Cup qualifiers this month, taking on Greece, Georgia and Kosovo to open up their qualifying campaign ahead of next year's World Cup.
And ahead of those games, La Roja boss Luis Enrique has announced his squad for the games and Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa has been snubbed amid a lack of game time.
Kepa has been regularly called up for some time despite usually playing second fiddle to Manchester United star David De Gea, but this time he has missed out.
Despite getting a taste of football under Thomas Tuchel, Kepa has remained Chelsea's second-choice goalkeeper, behind Edouard Mendy.
And that lack of game time appears to have cost him his place in the Spain squad with Athletic Club's Unai Simon and Brighton's Robert Sanchez preferred.
The omission comes at a concerning time for Kepa with Euro 2020 - a year delayed - coming up in the summer, and this is the final call-up before that all-important squad announcement for the European Championships.
This would suggest Kepa now has an uphill battle to get back into Enrique's plans for the Euros, particularly given he is unlikely to see much more game time between now and the end of the season with Meny impressing.
Though, Enrique has said the decision is far from made ahead of the Euros, explaining after announcing his squad: "It's certain that, for this list, there are players that are not here - Adama, Kepa, Meruni, Reguilon - and could be in the Euros."
Other than Sanchez in goal, there were some other Premier League faces in the Spain squad.
Manchester City's Eric Garcia, Rodri, Ferran Torres and Pedro Porro all made the cut, while Leeds United's Diego Llorente was also called up.
Liverpool's Thiago Alcantara was also called up, while former Chelsea and now Juventus loan striker Alvaro Morata was also included by Enrique, as expected.
