Kenyan-based Flipflopi boat is calling for a plastic revolution

Kenyan-based Flipflopi boat is calling for a plastic revolution

In an effort to combat ocean pollution and climate change, a local group named plastic revolution in the Lamu area of Coastal Kenya, have constructed a traditional dhow sailing boat made entirely from plastic trash collected from the country’s beaches and towns.

The boat is making its maiden voyage from Lamu in Kenya to Zanzibar in Tanzania.

The 500-kilometre expedition will visit communities along the way in an effort to change people’s perceptions about plastic waste.
