Why Eastern Michigan Will Win
Can Eastern Michigan get the running game going?
Kentucky was able to slow down the Toledo passing game, but the Rocket rushing attack was able to get production from QB Mitchell Guadagni and the running backs on the ground. The offensive line didn’t pound away, but it was able to keep the offense moving to keep UK from pulling away.
EMU has a nice back in Shaq Vann, but it was QB Mike Glass who took down Coastal Carolina. Glass ran for a score, and he completed 20-of-22 passes for 188 yards and three scores in a brilliant performance.
The Eagle defense wasn’t a rock, but it was able to come up with four takeaways to take control of the game on the road. This is a good enough defense to keep the okay UK offense from pulling away.
As long as EMU doesn’t made the mistakes Toledo did – with too many penalties and stalled drives – it should be able to keep this close.
Why Kentucky Will Win
Glass was good for EMU, and Terry Wilson was great against Toledo.
How would Kentucky get over the loss of RB Benny Snell? If went with a running back by committee against Toledo, and it relied on Wilson to take over the attack. He came through completed 19-of-26 passes for 246 yards and two scores, and he didn’t even need to take off and run all that often.
Eastern Michigan is still rebuilding a bit, and it showed against the Coastal Carolina passing game that came up with over 300 yards. However, he got picked off four times. Wilson won’t make the same mistakes, and the running game should be far more effective than the Chanticleer ground attack.

What’s Going To Happen
Eastern Michigan is going to be a tough out, especially if Kentucky is looking ahead a bit to the Florida showdown next week.
The Kentucky pass rush and defensive front will bother Glass enough to keep him from getting comfortable, but the Eagles won’t go away. The Wildcats will once again have to play a full four quarters against a MAC team, but the lines will be stronger, and they won’t make the massive errors EMU – see the win over Purdue last season – needs to pull off the shocker.
