Kent villagers tormented by mystery attacker pelting homes with golf balls

Residents of a sleepy village in Kent are under siege by a mystery attacker repeatedly pelting golf balls at them.

Villagers living on a quiet road in Barming, near Maidstone, have been bombarded by the missiles in dozens of incidents since May.

The balls have hit people in their gardens, narrowly missed children and smashed a greenhouse roof, according to local reports.

But nobody has yet been able to trace the person or group responsible.

Malcolm Austin, 65, said the village lives in fear and his wife had been hit twice and his car dented.

"Our lives have been disrupted by some idiot," the grandfather told the Maidstone Messenger.

Locals are worried they could be hit any moment, or that a child could be injured.

Resident Lynsey Holmewood wrote online: "Enough now! Whoever over the back of Trellyn Close is launching golf balls over needs to stop.

"You just narrowly missed my kids playing in the paddling pool ... One narrowly missed my mother who was gardening just a few days ago.

"What you are doing is extremely dangerous!"

The attacks began in May. Kent police said they are making house-to-house inquiries in the village.
