Kent petrol station undercharges customers following price blunder

With the sharp rise in fuel prices of late, most drivers have been shocked when confronted with prices at the pumps.

But one driver who visited a Shell garage near Margate on Tuesday (October 26) was left perplexed at the amount they were charged.

Kent Live reported that the price per litre was displaying as 14.9p, which meant that his total amount came to £3.92 for the 26.29 litres he filled up with.

The decimal point had been put in the wrong place at the pump, which meant this particular garage was undercharging for fuel.

The blunder was shared in a Facebook group for Kent hauliers and drivers.

One motorist reacted to the post, saying: "I filled up last night, I'm gutted."

"How nice would that be all the time," another said.

One person responded: "Should have kept that quiet!"

While another said: "On my way... from Edinburgh!"

The price has since been corrected.
