Kent Bazemore expects Lonzo Ball to ‘do his thing’ with Pelicans

In his first two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, Lonzo Ball was held back by injuries, however, his development was also hindered by the offense Luke Walton ran.

This season with the New Orleans Pelicans, Ball will play under Alvin Gentry, who has a reputation for making his teams play fast, something Ball has had no trouble doing at any level of his basketball career. It’s for that reason Portland Trail Blazers swingman Kent Bazemore believes Ball is in for a breakout junior season.

During the most recent episode of the “Winging It” podcast, Bazemore said that he expects big things from Ball and the Pelicans next season:

“I think New Orleans had a really good offseason as far as getting some fresh blood in there. Because I think Lonzo, he’s going to really do his thing down there.”

Bazemore’s co-host and former Atlanta Hawks teammate, Vince Carter, said he also expects a big year from Brandon Ingram, who is coming off of a career season with averages of 18.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and three assists per game.
