Kensington Palace have confirmed William and Kate will be given new titles following the sad announcement Queen Elizabeth has died. The couple will now be known as Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge.
Charles has been proclaimed as King following the death of the Queen aged 96. It means the heir to the throne is now Prince William.

As the heir to the throne, William automatically assumes titles including Duke of Cornwall, Earl of Chester and Duke of Rothesay for use when in Scotland. As his wife, Kate gets the female equivalent of these titles - Duchess of Cornwall, Countess of Chester and Duchess of Rothesay.

They are not losing their Duke and Duchess of Cambridge titles - these new titles will be additions, it has been confirmed.
This means they are now styled the TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge. In addition, George is now Prince George of Cornwall and Cambridge, Charlotte is Princess Charlotte of Cornwall and Cambridge and Louis is now Prince Louis of Cornwall and Cambridge.
On Thursday, Buckingham Palace announced the death of The Queen, aged 96. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away at her Scottish residence Balmoral.
Buckingham Palace issued a statement confirming her death at around 6.30pm. The Palace said: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
The Queen is the longest-reigning monarch, and the only monarch to have celebrated a Platinum Jubilee.
