Kenny Miller weighs in on Celtic guard of honour for Rangers as former Ibrox star predicts 'tit-for-tat' final call

Kenny Miller expects a bit of "tit-for-tat" from Celtic over the guard of honour for Rangers on derby day.

During Steven Gerrard's first in charge during the 2018-19 season, Neil Lennon's Hoops clinched an eighth Premiership crown on the spin with victory at Aberdeen and would travel to Ibrox the following weekend.

The Light Blues players did not give the then-holders a guard of honour before kick-off despite the then Hoops boss saying they would have if roles were reversed.

However, roles have now reversed as the new champions head to Glasgow's east end for their first game since celebrating their 55th title.

Miller told talkSPORT that tradition will be abandoned between the Old Firm once again following the choice at Ibrox in May 2019.

He said: “These are things that are left for clubs to make decisions. Listen, I don’t think it will make a difference to Rangers or Rangers players or the staff or the club one little bit.

“They have got over the line, they have got the title, that’s all that matters. How Celtic want to approach it that’s up to them.

"The fact that Rangers never done it, it's a bit tit-for-tat if Celtic just return the favour. For me, if I was there I wouldn't be bothered in the slightest.

"The 55th title is there and in the bag now and for me you we move on to 56."
