Kenny Miller tells Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos more 'eye catching' displays are needed as he reflects on 100 goal landmark

Kenny Miller hailed Alfredo Morelos for his "fantastic achievement" of scoring 100 goals, but warned he needs to maintain his form if Rangers are to win trophies this season.

The Colombian joined the Premiership champions in 2017 and achieved the outstanding goalscoring feat in just 199 games.

It was Miller who set up El Bufalo for his first ever goal in a Rangers shirt in a 6-0 League Cup romp against Dunfermline in 2017, with the Colombian making it 100 in the win over St Mirren on Sunday.

And the former striker has told the 25-year-old he needs to be at his very best if more trophies are to be added to the Ibrox trophy cabinet this season.

Miller, the last man to make it to the milestone, told Sky Sports News: "For Rangers to be successful, to stay at the top of the league and win cups, Alfredo needs to be firing and scoring goals. There's no doubt about it.

"He's the focal point of the team, that's five years he's been at the club now I think.

"He's got better, but I'd say in the last 18 months he's not been quite as eye-catching and the amount of goals he's scored is not as many as the previous season or two.

"For him to be at the top of his game, Rangers have got a better chance of being successful this year.

"He lives right on the edge, he's a confident lad in his own ability and it's a wonderful achievement.

"To score 100 goals in less than 200 games is outstanding, big, big numbers. If he maintains that then you'd take that from your striker, a one in two level.

"It's a fantastic achievement, well done to him, and I'm sure he'll just want to continue that form and add to it."
