Kenny Miller makes Celtic title claim and insists James Forrest is best winger in Scotland

Kenny Miller insists Celtic are favourites for the Premiership title and says James Forrest is the man who can drive their 9 in a row dream.

The striker knows a thing or two about chasing league flags with the Hoops and Rangers having won three titles in three spells at Ibrox to add to the SPL winners' medal he picked up with Celtic in 2007.

And he is engrossed in the current battle between his old clubs with Celtic top on goal difference after thumping Aberdeen 4-0 at Pittodrie on Sunday.

Miller reckons Forrest - who today revealed he was close to signing a new deal at Parkhead - is key to their hopes.

Appearing on BBC Sportsound, the veteran striker agreed with Michael Stewart's assertion that Neil Lennon had brought energy, pace and dynamism back to a Celtic side which was beginning to flag last season.

The Partick Thistle frontman said: "I would say they are favourites. I would definitely say they are favourites and rightly so.

"But I do think Rangers have got everything in terms of what Michael has alluded to with Celtic - although it's still to be proven.

"When Celtic click into gear they can do that (their thrashing of Aberdeen) to anybody.

"We have seen it domestically for a number of years now and even in European games - they can hurt very very good European teams when they click into gear."

Asked if Forrest is the best wide player in the country Miller said: "I think over the last three or four years he has definitely developed into that.

"He has gone from a young player with lots of potential to actually realising that potential. Not only that but he has added some real numbers to his game - his assists, his goals have been untouchable really over the last couple of seasons.

"So for me he is the most dangerous and productive player in that position in the country at the moment."
