Kenny Miller in brutal Rangers Champions League exit assessment as he delivers 'lost their edge' verdict

Brutally honest Kenny Miller reckons the current Rangers have to find their edge against after Malmo sent his former club out of the Champions League.

Steven Gerrard 's side fell at the first hurdle as they failed to make the playoff round against the 10-man Swedes at Ibrox.

Despite taking the lead through Alfredo Morelos, the visitors controlled the second half and booked their place in the playoff stage.

That now means that Rangers have lost three of their opening four games in all competitions.

Disappointed Miller called for calm heads behind the scenes at the club, but admitted plenty of work needed to be done to get the Premiership title defence back on track.

He told Football Pass : “I would not press the panic button.

“You don’t become a bad team, or bad players, overnight.

“When you talk in terms of three losses in a row, I mean Rangers lost three games in the whole of last year, and one of them was on penalties.

“The fact that they have lost three games in the whole of last year and that thy are already at three losses from four games into this season is of concern.

“I’m sure it will be to Steven as well, particularly the way they lost the goals.

‘The foundation for their success last year, particularly in Europe, was a sturdy defence and not giving too much away.

“Over the league season they had a record number of clean sheets as well.

“I don’t think it’s alarm bells ringing, but they need to find their edge again. I’ve watch the four games this season and I think there has been a little spark missing, definitely in an attacking sense.

“The edge is off their defending as well, because they have conceded goals; goals they probably wouldn’t have lost last year.

`But they do need to find their mojo going forward again.”
