Kenny McLean deals Scotland another injury blow as he's sent back to Norwich City

Scotland will be without Kenny McLean in Moscow as he became the latest player struck down by injury.

The Norwich City midfielder has returned to his parent club for treatment and will miss Thursday's Euro 2020 qualifying clash against Russia.

Steve Clarke confirmed the 27-year-old has joined Ryan Jack, Oli McBurnie and Grant Hanley on the treatment table overnight.

But the national team boss insists it's an opportunity for someone else to step up.

He said: "It's always disappointing when you lose players from the squad and overnight we have lost Kenny McLean as well.

"It's another blow but a great chance for someone else. It's part and parcel of international football."

Scotland have travelled to the Russian capital with their hopes of qualifying from Group I all-but over following successive defeats during the last international break.

A 2-1 home loss to Thursday's nights opponents was compounded by a 4-0 lesson from Belgium days later.

Following tomorrow night's encounter at the Luzhniki Stadium, Clarke's side will face San Marino on Sunday evening at Hampden.
