Kenny McIntosh fueled by recruiting experiences with Alabama, Ohio State

Recently, incoming Georgia tailback Kenny McIntosh told DawgNation about some negative recruiting experiences with other top schools before his decision to join the Dawgs, and how these experiences have motivated him to prove the doubters wrong in the upcoming season.

It started when McIntosh’s father Richard got his hands on an Alabama recruiting list that had his son listed as a “second tier” recruit, which obviously isn’t the most flattering category to be in.

About his experience with Alabama, Kenny said, “one of the coaches said, ‘If you come here we’re going to win, and if you don’t, we’re still going to win,’ and that’s how they came off…Coach (Kirby) Smart didn’t and doesn’t come off like that.”

Speaking about Ohio State, McIntosh said, “They wanted two running backs to commit, and I wasn’t ready to commit, so once they got two running backs committed, they stopped calling.”

When one of those running backs, Samson James, decommitted from the university, they again reached out to McIntosh, who was no longer interested as it was clear the school wasn’t too enthusiastic about him.

Stories like these are reassuring about the more ethical approach Georgia takes in its recruiting process, and hopefully, these past experiences will add more fuel to McIntosh’s fire as he takes the field in 2019 in red and black.
