Kenny Dalglish in startling Neil Lennon Celtic claim as he reads the riot act to Hoops flops

Concerned Kenny Dalglish has told Celtic's below par stars they MUST give more on the pitch even if they don't like boss Neil Lennon.

The Irishman is feeling the heat in the wake of a 4-1 thumping to Sparta Prague in the Europa League that leaves the Hoops with only one win in their last seven games.

Dalglish has told the Hoops dressing room that the under-fire Celtic manger was right to call them out and they must now produce on the pitch even if the 49-year-old has left them miffed.

The Premiership champions travel to Motherwell in desperate need of a win as they trail Steven Gerrard's high-flying Rangers by nine points at the top of the table.

And the Scottish football icon has called upon Celtic's under-fire players to remember the fans who are locked out with Ten In A Row on the line.

Speaking in his Sunday Post column, Dalglish said: "Neil Lennon is absolutely right to ask questions of his players and demand more from them.

"The thing, as we all know, if the guys in the green and white Hoops don't do better then it's the manager who gets the sack. Not the players.

"I know they have problems in the defensive area of the team right now, and key men - like Kristoffer Ajer and Christopher Jullien - have been unavailable.

"But there should still be a higher level of performance.

"Even if the players don't want to do it for the manager, they should want to do it for themselves and the Celtic supporters.

"Whether they like the manager or not, it shouldn't stop you from running, tackling and closing down an opponent.

"So a huge improvement is required in the Premiership game away to Motherwell.

"They need to stick together and it would be a sad state of affairs if the squad throws it all away after what they've achieved together in the past few years."
